The Beginning of Katie Verbatim

Hello, and welcome! If you've been here before, you probably remember this as my book review blog. It has been quite a long break from reviewing books. I blame a move, a teaching job that drained my soul, a pregnancy, and beginning that glorious adventure called motherhood. But I'm back, and I will continue to review the occasional book.

However, I've been toying with the idea of starting another blog in order to get back into one of my first loves, writing. I thought about doing a separate one, but couldn't think of a title clever enough to stand on its own. I'm really very proud of The Sound of Pages, and the title is appropriate for both goals: reviewing books and practicing writing. So I figured I'd just put it all in one place, and after some research into the intricacies of how to actually do that on Blogger, you see the result here.

You will see a variety of topics on Katie Verbatim, including, but not limited to:

• The antics of my darling family and growing son
• Rants and raves of politics and religion that are too big to fit in a Facebook status, or too controversial
• Original fiction and poetry for feedback (congratulations! You are now a beta reader!).

So again, welcome to your one stop shop for the thoughts that go through my brain! I promise, I'm not another mommy blogger. I'm way too unoriginal for that, and that niche is saturated. And I can't promise any of my other thoughts will be original, but maybe they'll at least be entertaining.
