About Me

My name is Katie, I’m a wife of almost five years to Cooper, who is a seminary student and works in security. I have a beautiful baby boy, Soren, who I'm watching grow, and I'm happily working 24/7 as a stay-at-home mom. It's hands down the best job I've ever had! (But don't worry, you haven't stumbled across another mommy blog. I have nothing new to add to that niche!).

I am a Christian. Since that can mean anything these days, let me clarify. I love Jesus Christ. I worship Him as the one true God. I want to please Him. He bought my soul with His precious blood, and that fact is the only way this chief of sinners is getting to heaven.  I believe that the Bible is inerrant, divinely inspired, and the final authority on God and life in general. If this matters to you, I’m a particular fan of the English Standard Version (which, unless otherwise noted, I will quote from on this blog). I want everything I do to glorify God. This blog is as much for me as I work through how to do that better. If you want some general labels, I’m Protestant and generally agree with conservative Reformed beliefs. If you're curious what that means, here's a good summary of those beliefs.

As far as other interests, I love hanging out with my husband, family, and family-like friends, and I like playing outside, whether that’s hiking, camping, swimming, etc. I also like to write, which is part of the reason for this blog. I have a BS in Elementary Education, which I hope to use for homeschooling, and an MA in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing. I’m into board games, good coffee, interesting movies, and comedic TV shows (clean ones, of course). I much prefer an evening in the living room of a good friend to a night on the town. I love inner-city service work and should do it more. I’m passionate about authentic education.  I want to travel the world and have been to three different countries. I love theater and musicals and participate as often as I can in community theater productions, singing, dancing, and acting. Adopted as an infant myself, I have a passion for preserving the lives of unborn children around the world, and you may find some literature reviewed in Book Reviews related to that. I have a thing for parenthetical statements (if you haven't noticed already).
